It's funny how one little moment can change the course of your life.
About 7 years ago I started Googling "how to lasercut" after I saw a beautiful wooden lasercut clock on Etsy. I had never heard the term "lasercut" before and I was keen to learn more about it.
For fun, I decided to make some lasercut jewellery for myself out of eco bamboo. Fast-forward a few months and (on a whim!) I signed up to the local market to sell some spare stud earrings I had created. To my surprise, people actually bought the earrings I made! I was shocked and hooked about exhibiting at another market in the future.
Fast-forward a few years and I decided that I wanted to turn this hobby (which had now consumed much of my thoughts) into my full-time job.
I planned my full-time job exit strategy, working during the day, and working at night on my hobby. Two years later after many late nights and weekend markets, I handed in my resignation.
The last few years I have enjoyed such incredible freedom in my job. I have travelled and connected with so many interesting people. Most importantly because of you, I am able to continue working daily on my passion creating eco jewellery for a sustainable life.
Why I am sharing this story is because I wanted to encourage YOU to start that hobby that you always wanted. Not only because it will give you joy, but also because you just never know where it may lead you. You may learn a new skill, meet interesting people or even get the opportunity to travel aboard.
