I've just learnt about the the Swedish term fika.... So I thought I better have a little fika moment :: "Functioning as both a verb and a noun, the concept of fika is simple. It is the moment that you take a break, often with a cup of coffee, but alternatively with tea, and find a baked good to pair with it. You can do it alone, you can do it with friends. You can do it at home, in a park or at work. But the essential thing is that you do it, that you make time to take a break: that's what fika is all about."
From the book Fika: The Art of the Swedish Coffee Break.
My favourite time in the day now is having a little fika moment. It's always around 2pm - I'll pop the kettle on, turn off anything noisy and distracting and start the ritual. I love having a little decaffeinated coffee with a sugary snack (hey, it's ok to be a little unhealthy sometimes!). It's warming for the body and the soul.
What's your fika ritual? Do you have a favourite tea or coffee?
